Lohri comes every year on January 13, this auspicious festival has a significant meaning in India. Delicious food, folk songs, and a good time with family around bone fair is one of the way to celebrate this festival. This festival is celebrated in whole India, but most favourably in Northern parts of India – Punjab, Himanchal Pradesh and Haryana. In this article, we will shed some light, how you can celebrate Lohri with healthy eating. 

This festival has all the meaning with various types of food and melt-in-your-mouth-sweets. Friends and family gathered around bone fire and spending some quality time, this is what makes this festival a very special one.

1. Gajak (1 Piece) –

1 large piece of Gajak contains almost 70 calories. Similarly, this sweet also contains 3.9g protein and 0.3g fiber. There is no certain way to measure 1 piece of Gajak so this value may vary. Nevertheless, you get the idea. Besides, it made using jiggery and peanut so it gives you energy and warmness in winter. This makes this sweet must try.

2. Chikki –

15gm chikki contains 79 calories. These 79 calories come from various factors such as carbohydrates, protein, and fat. Chikki is very popular Indian sweet and it made from nuts and jiggery/sugar. There are various types of chikkis available in the market that you can consume to treat your taste buds.

3. Rewari –

25gm of Rewari piece are equal to 100 calories. Hence, its’ good source to fulfil your calorie requirement. This sweet is also very good for health as it protects you from winter due to its different good properties.

4. Til Ka Ladoo –

One til ka ladoo contains 60 calories. Til ka ladoo is also good for heart by lowering the blood pressure because of presence of magnesium. This sweet also have fat burning property.  

5. Popcorn –

Per 100gm popcorn contains 375 calories. Popcorn is high in various important nutrients like vitamins, minerals and etc and also a good source of fiber.   

6. Sarso Da Saag and Makai ki roti –

1 makai roti contains 144.2 kg and 1 bowl of sarso da saag contains 92.4kg. This is very nutritional food. This dish also known to boost immunity and prevent diseases during winter season. It also rich in protein and fibres.
